This is how this story begins: “Victor’s story is a story of success. He has founded, and for the last 15 years consequently developed his private, family-owned business. (…) For most of the time Victor has managed his growing markets, brand, and organisation alone.

“This is also how he has made and is still making decisions. He is very secretive regarding his plans concerning the future of the company. He does not reveal them neither to his closest “adjutants”, nor the other members of his family of owners. Oh yes, in place of the executives or directors Victor has three “adjutants”. Super loyal professionals in the specialist jobs places in finance, sales, and production. (…) Victor is tired. In fact, he is exhausted. He does not like both owner and CEO jobs. Nor he likes or trusts his line managers and employees. The work environment and culture he has created are hitting him back.”

This spring, the book “Failed Leadership” was published in Berlin and Bern by Peter Lang publishing house.

Krzysztof Tarka, Founder and Managing Partner of TARKA EXECUTIVE is the author of its “Under Pressure” section.
